How To Use This Site

This site has been designed specifically for picture editors and art directors working in the publishing industry, and with ease of use in mind:

First, I suggest you create an account in the my account page: this will enable you to email lightboxes to others.
Next, browse or search the site for images : all images are keyword tagged and you can search on single or multiple keywords.
Then, add suitable images to your Lightbox: this will be accessible when you revisit the site, and you can email it to others.
Next, send the Lightbox to me stating your requirements: I can then provide you with terms and price details, or hi-resolution previews.

Image Pricing

In order to price image use I will need to know the following:

Specific Use: i.e. magazine cover, book, advertising literature, brochure etc.
Industry: publishing, magazine, press, advertising, design etc.
Distribution area local, national, international
Intended image size: i.e. A4, A3, A2, Magazine full page, Magazine half page.
Total circulation: Print circulation, readership circulation.
Duration: amount of time you woudl like to use the image - e.g. one time publication.

Generally, licences are granted for one-time non-exclusive use. This means you can use the image for one type of publication. If you use the image in a magazine, but then decide later to use the image in a calendar this will require the purchase of an additional licence. Exclusive use can be arranged. Please contact me to discuss.

Images for web use are generally licenced for use on one domain only (i.e. www.yourdomain.com). Multi-domain or multi-media use licensing can be arranged. Image colour and tone can be adjusted for web usage as required. Images licenced for web usage must be re-licensed for additional use on other domains or in other publications. A web usage licence does not include entitlement to resell the image or reuse the image in any way. If additional use of the image is required or intended then please contact me to discuss.

All images are keyworded and you can search by keywords using the simple Search window at the top right of each screen, or you can perform a more advanced photographic search by clicking on Advanced Search. The scope of search results will depend on the keywords entered.

You can save images to your own Lightbox for comparison or later review, but you must have created an account to do so. Up to 30 images may be saved to your Lightbox in this way. If you decide that you would like to arrange or discuss licensing of photographs or images in your lightbox then please click 'Send Lightbox to Derek Ridgers' together with your contact information and we will contact you in due course. Please note that in order to send a lightbox to us, you must have created an account by visiting the 'my account' area of the site.
